In a sharply divided decision (2-1), the California Court of Appeal ruled that the state may continue to bar same-sex couples from marriage. On February 4, a pro-gay and lesbian rights contingent joined the annual Los Angeles Chinatown lunar new year parade for the first time in its 107 year history.
