Mourning Orlando, Resisting Islamophobia

By: | Tags: , , , , | Comments: 0

Dear Members, We are deeply saddened and angered by the violence that unfolded in the early hours of Sunday morning at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. This attack on queer and trans Latinx and Black people is part of a long legacy in the United States of homophobia and transphobia, racist violence by police and vigilante groups, and fear and hatred of those who are different. We have already seen dangerous, Islamophobic statements that will generate additional hatred and violence toward Muslim communities. To challenge the systems and […]

Share your story on Q&A Space for 2015 by Dec. 1st!

By: | Tags: | Comments: 0

By many accounts, this year has been a landmark year for the LGBTQ community with victories such as legal nationwide marriage equality and the steadily increasing visibility of trans people in mainstream media. However, these wins do not reflect the stories and priorities of all facets of our lives as LGBTQ Asian American and Pacific Islanders (API). We live at the complicated intersections of oppression based on race, gender identity, and sexual orientation, and our lived experiences are often not reflected in the stories shared about the LGBTQ narrative.
