The wonderful participants of our Trans Allyship Teach-in this past month!
#GiveOUTDay

Tuesday, August 2nd is Give OUT Day, a national 24-hour online fundraising event that unites LGBTQ organizations and donors. API Equality-LA’s work is fueled by our dedicated volunteers, interns, and staff — and your financial support allows us to keep that work going!
We aim to raise $7,500 to help fund our internship programs for the upcoming year. Our internship programs give youth from different backgrounds and identities hands-on training with community organizing and activism.
Join us in our fight for justice in our 11th year and beyond by donating today!
LGBTQ organizations who engage the most donors or raise the most money are eligible for additional cash prizes, so please schedule your donation for August 2nd to increase our chances!

Also, please share the word about our fundraising efforts on Facebook and Twitter. Feel free to use the blurbs below or personalize your own.

Q&A Space

“I had no awareness of queer people growing up in this church…I didn’t know what ‘queer’ meant, but I remember someone saying that we shouldn’t use that word, and also someone saying that ‘queer’ just meant ‘weird.’ Who knew that about a decade later, I would be using that word to describe myself?”

How do we respond to violence within our own communities without turning to the police or other state systems? This teach-in will offer a basic introduction and overview to the core concepts of transformative justice and community accountability (TJ/CA), and offer space for participants to begin thinking about community-based responses to violence.
The teach-in will be led by Mia Mingus, a community educator and organizer working for disability justice and transformative justice. We are excited to co-host this event with Creative Interventions and Dignity & Power Now.
