Faith Committee
Taking a multi-faith approach, this committee engages religious organizations and leaders to build relationships and support for marriage equality within API communities of faith through events such as community service projects. This committee also conducts education, outreach, message research, and media efforts specifically focused on members of the API faith community. Fundraising Committee
This committee serves to increase and diversify API Equality-LA’s funding streams through signature events such as Sisters Standing Up for Love, which honors the work of women activists in our community, and smaller events, such as karaoke nights and house parties. Outreach & Recruitment Committee
Through visibility events such as the Chinatown Golden Dragon Lunar New Year Parade and the CSW Los Angeles Pride Parade as well as one-on-one outreach at cultural and community events such as the San Gabriel Valley Lunar New Year Festival, the Festival of Pilipino Arts and Culture, and the Thai New Year Festival in Hollywood, this committee recruits supporters, endorsers, and new volunteers. Public Education Committee
This committee serves to educate the API community on marriage equality and other connected LGBTQ issues though public education events, such as town halls and presentations to universities and organizations, as well as train and develop new volunteers through skills building events such as speaker’s bureaus and volunteer orientations. Social Media Committee
Through social media, such as blogs, Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube, the Social Media Committee works to educate and engage our community on the issues of marriage equality and LGBT rights. Meet the committee Co-Chairs, Alan Chan and Noel Alumit.
