Join us again in celebrating LGBTQ PRIDE this year at LA PRIDE parade and festival between June 10th – 12th! We’ll be marching in the parade with APAIT (a service agency whose programs empowers trans people and communities at-risk for HIV/AIDS), along with other Asian American and Pacific Islander LGBTQ organizations such as API PFLAG, Satrang, and CRA.
The parade kicks off at 11:00am but at 8:00am, we’ll have a pre-march breakfast with other organizations at a member’s house in West Hollywood. It’s an awesome way to kick-off our festivities, meet new friends, and unite as a community. After breakfast, we’ll go to the parade start together at 10:00am. We will provide the address upon signing up.
We will know our parade position on the day of and will notify folks who sign up. You can join us in our parade position at 10:30am. The parade starts at 10:45 a.m. from the intersection of Santa Monica and Crescent Heights Boulevards and travels westbound along Santa Monica Boulevard, just past the main entrance of the Pride Festival at San Vicente Boulevard, ending at Robertson Boulevard.
All permit parking regulations will be lifted from 4pm on Friday, June 10 through 11:59 a.m. on Monday, June 13. All parking meters will be enforced. Parking is available at the following locations for a fee: Pacific Design Center – $20 at 8687 Melrose Ave, Kings Road Parking Structure – $20 8383 at Santa Monica Blvd, Hancock Parking Structure – $20 at 901 Hancock Ave, Palm Lot – $1.50/hr at 815 Palm Ave.
The use of public transportation is encouraged. The city will offer a free shuttle bus, called the Pride Ride on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday that can be accessed by taking the Metro line to Hollywood and Highland. (Note: The free shuttle service will not operate before or during the parade on Sunday.) For a PDF route map with detailed information about schedules and stops, click here.
We ask that you wear API Equality-LA shirts for the entire duration of the parade for a uniform look and presentation of our unit. If you do not already have one, you may get one for a suggested donation of $5 at the parade meeting location.
Parade Details and Rules
The LA Pride Parade route is around 1 miles in total and the parade will take a total of two hours. We do not have cars or floats, but we welcome users of wheelchairs, scooters, and strollers as they are able. Water will be distributed throughout the parade within our contingent by our volunteers. We will provide more details about the parade route once we have it.
For the health and safety of community members with chemical sensitivities, we ask that attendees come fragrance-free and avoid wearing scented products before coming to the parade. This includes perfume, deoderant, hairspray, etc. More details available here: http://www.eastbaymeditation.org/accessibility/fragrancefree.html
We recognize that not everyone is able to participate in the whole parade. People are encouraged to join and leave the parade when they feel necessary. If you have accessibility concerns, please contact Andy Su at firstname.lastname@example.org or 213-580-1800.
Pride Festival Outreach
Tabling with APIELA will include speaking with festival goers in order to: build our base of volunteers, recruit people for future events, add people to our list serve, and inform the community of our most recent work like trans public education and voter registration. There will be a training before you begin volunteering at LA Pride, so whether you’re new to volunteering with us or a seasoned veteran, we hope you’ll join us to help in our outreach and recruitment efforts! Note that all shifts are different time spans.
