How Do I Tell Them? Coming Out for Asians and Pacific Islanders
Meeting your family’s expectations can be hard enough, but what if you’re gay, lesbian, or bisexual?
The coming out experience for API LGBT youth is often difficult due to cultural and language barriers that prevent us from connecting with our families. For many API LGBT youth and students, we feel we might disappoint our families and end up living double lives, one in campus and/or with our friends and the other at home.
This event will provide students and youth the opportunity space to discuss challenges and strategies around coming out to their families within an API cultural context.
A safe space and lunch will be provided.
RSVP IS REQUIRED. Please RSVP to: dbatimana@gmail.com or brian@apiequalityla.org.
