&: Queer API Intersections Storytelling Project

API Equality-LA is inviting you to share your unique experiences and stories with us!

Across the country, queer Asian and Pacific Islander youth face the unique challenge of navigating multiple, complex identities.  However, our stories and struggles often go unrecognized in not only mainstream media, but society at large as well.  &: Queer API Intersections is an effort to counter this lack of representation by providing a platform through which people can safely and openly share their experiences.

A key component of this project will be collecting stories from individuals who hail from diverse regions and backgrounds across the nation.  The profiles/blogs created from these stories will then be used to share the various facets of intersecting identities and experiences with other queer API youth, family, and friends.  These intersections may include, but are not limited to, any combination of API, gender, sexual identities, class, religion, and immigration status.

Though the majority of work that API Equality-LA does is Los Angeles based, it’s important that we recognize and put a face to these issues on broader platform.  We will be publishing stories on our Tumblr in an effort to make these stories as easily accessible as possible to not only inform, but also move and inspire people across the nation and around the world.

API Equality-LA is inviting you to share your unique experiences and stories with us.  You can tell your story in any way you feel best, whether through poetry, a short story, artwork, video, music or whatever you choose.  We want you to have creative freedom.
