Audrey Kuo is a poet, writer and community organizer based out of Los Angeles who is deeply invested in building networks among queer and trans people of color working toward collective liberation. Their work is shaped by their identity as a queer and genderqueer second-generation Taiwanese-American.
Prior to joining API-Equality as Executive Director, Audrey was Senior Development Officer at the Downtown Women’s Center, a nationally recognized nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness for women. Their previous work also includes development and strategy consulting with Gender Justice LA; creating and facilitating social justice curriculum for youth; and teaching journalism ethics and copyediting.
Audrey has organized as a core member of Tuesday Night Project and Critical Resistance Portland, and as an Advisory Committee Member and Architect for Big Citizen HUB. They are also a dedicated bread baker, using a sourdough starter shared among community organizers along the West Coast. Audrey holds a B.A. in English from the University of California, Los Angeles, with minors in French and political science, and a diplôme du programme international from Sciences Po (The Paris Institute of Political Studies).
